Delivering Toys for Tots

AMARILLO, TEXAS — The generosity of the community and the community itself has rallied together once again this year to make sure thousands of area kids get toys for Christmas. Through the US Marine Corps, “Toys for Tots” Foundation, and the Hardcore Motorcycle Ministries, Santa worked his magic through these elves Friday morning who delivered toys to area kids.

“We collected about 6,000 toys in the community including the cash donated that we bought toys with. And then the foundation actually had sent us about 27,000 toys and all of the toys got out to kids so we helped out a lot of kids,” said Sgt. Justin Allbright, Marine Corp.

From basketballs to stuffed animals to dolls, we were blessed to witness the pure joy that swept over the faces of the kids who received them.

“The last stop we were at the grandmother came out and got ’em and she was crying. And then the first stop we heard a little girl screaming and it just brings a lot of joy to our heart to know we’re able to bring some good days to some that don’t have it,” said Gary Burd, Senior Pastor at Christian Heritage Church.  And it’s that gift of giving, that many feel is the true spirit of Christmas.

“Christmas has always been about giving it’s not the receiving of it because what you received out of the joy of giving means a whole lot more than anything else,” said Christopher Cortez, Hardcore Motorcycle Ministries.

The Hardcore Motorcycle Ministries in Amarillo, Texas kicks off the toy drive for “toys for Tots” every year at the end of September.
