Despite the snow and ice, Hard C.O.R.E Motorcycle Ministry of South Carolina held the 2nd Annual Frost Bite 100 on January 15. The purpose was to bring riders from all across the Upstate to help afamily in need.
Red’s Cycles and Rod Shop located in Greenville, SC provided refreshments for all the riders . The ride ended at Sue’s Wings &Things Restaurant and Bar. There were door prizes provided to be given away at the beginning and the end of the ride. Those prizes were provided by Advance Auto Parts in Pelzer, SC.
The ministry provided American flags for every bike that rode in the event. Only Eleven riders were able to participate in the ride due to lingering snow and ice on many of the roads throughout the Upstate. Some donations were made by phone and others dropped by in their vehicles to make donations. The ride was shortened to an 80 mile tour, to avoid some of the snow and ice covered roads, through the communities and towns in the surrounding areas.
At the end of the day the team had raised $375.00. The money went to Taran Gilbert and Family, an employee of Sue’s Wings &Things, who only a couple of days before had lost the family home to a devistating house fire. Taran, her son, and her mother and father, were displaced by the fire. The fire broke out in the kitchen on Thursday and was quickly put out, sometime Friday morning the fire rekindled and the icy conditions kept fire fighters from making it back to the home, leaving the house this time as a total loss. Co-workers contacted us and asked if we would add Taran’s name to the giveaway.
Among the many riders in this event was Billy Pinson, M25 Point Man for the Upper South Carolina conference. Once again the Frostbite 100 was a success being a light in a dark world and bringing Glory to God through our efforts.
