Run for the Wall 2011 Day 1 05/18/2011

The alarm shouted – ‘get up’ at 4:30 am – read your Bible – spend a few minutes with the Lord and out to a rainy start! That is the way we started Day 1 in Rancho Cucamunga CA. It would rain, let up and then the wind blew – oh did it blow. I heard it was up to a 50 mph crosswind. If that wasn’t enough, as we entered Phoenix, AZ we hit the hardest rain of the day. BUT we all made it, no wrecks, no break downs — we all spent time praising the Lord.

It was a special day for Bandit, Wookie and Lynn — three years ago today we were picking them up off the road and visiting them in a hospital. It did not look good at all but here we are on RFTW again – all of us.

The rider meeting was a special time for all 700 plus of us. We heard stories of POW and MIA’s – we had an active duty soldier thank the Viet Nam Vets for making sure they were not treated as the Nam Vets were when they came home. I was honored to pray the final prayer before we left the meeting.

Chaplain Tim Moore will tell the story tomorrow night of a Korean Prisoner of War – Pastor Kevin McBride will share a story of an eighty-three year old combat veteran out here riding his motorcycle with us to DC! There are so many good things happening.

We started the day off blessing a couple of bikes that are very special to us, Nine-Ball and Pocket’s motorcycles. It is really neat when you look in the parking lot and see motorcycles everywhere with “This BIker Was Blessed” Mission:M25 stickers on them. God is truly allowing us to just be a light. Just ‘show forth His glory through good deeds’, Matt. 5:16.

To end the day, the guys are loading up two trailers for Free Camp Phoenix and supplies for a sister church that reaches into their community. It is really awesome how the Lord can take one ministry to bless another. We are so indebted in M25 to Carol Olmstead for all the work she has done to provide the supplies for our trailer.
